A Job Well Done

I think it is time that citizens of Perth Amboy take the time to think about how dedicated our Parks Department and Sanitation Department employees are in taking care of our City.

We have Danny Cleaver at the Parks Department, thank you Danny for having the flag they replaced, with his dependable men continually at our parks cleaning and repairing and don’t forget the outstanding job they do on the holidays and of course, let us remember, John, the man who takes care of our streets week after week. The only time we don’t see the sweeper is in bad weather. Then there is the great job that Police Officer Harry Scheman is doing getting cars to move so John can sweep. When Harry is not available, most of the time the cars stay there and the sweeper has to go around.

Let us not forget the City Garage. When and if anyone calls in for information, e have people that answer the phone but the two who stand out in my mind are Elena Rosario and Geri Barcheski who are both very knowledgeable and accommodating.

Last but not least, the outstanding job that the sanitation crew does, rain or shine, collecting our garbage week after week. At times, I see a driver and one man picking up garbage. Does anyone realize how hard that it is? The only time we don’t see these dedicated Perth Amboy employees is when we have a snow storm and then they are there getting the City back to normal and they do a great job.

I think a lot of people will say that’s their job and I agree. But when the job is done so well I don’t think it would be too much to ask if once in awhile when we see them, to open the door or window or go outside and say thank you for a job well done.

I’ve been a resident of Perth Amboy since 1954 and only out of the City for three and one-half years I spent in the United States Marine Corp. I want to say thank you for a job well done. Keep up the good work and keep punching.

Yours truly,

Rocky DeNardo
