According to “The Amboy Guardian” “Comedy Night” to benefit the Perth Amboy Happy Home Shelter will be held at the Knights of Columbus on High Street. It will be “Adult Themed Entertainment” and no one under 18 will be admitted.
When I called for information about what that meant, I was told that profanity was used during the performances. The person who answered me was vague as to whether that also included crude, immoral jokes. I have to question why a Catholic fraternal organization such as the Knights of Columbus would allow their hall to be used for such an event.
The Knights do many good, charitable works that benefit the community, but this is not in keeping with their traditional Catholic values. Surely a fundraiser with a buffet and some other acceptable form of entertainment would better suit The Knights of Columbus if it is to be held there.
