PERTH AMBOY – St. Stephen’s Church in Perth Amboy is celebrating their 10 years of existence. For this reason we will be releasing a Book of Remembrance. There is a place for everyone, for every family, institution or organization. Prices for the book are: Gold Page $400, Silver Page $200, Whole Page $100, Half Page $75 and 1/4 Page $50. Also offered is a $600 color cover if you wish. Please make checks payable to St. Stephen’s Church. Thank you for your generosity. All proceeds received will be donated to the renovation (painting) of the church.

On July 1st St. Stephen’s Parish will officially be joined with St. Mary’s and Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. From this point on we will be called Blessed Pope John II Parish, which is one of the first parishes in the U.S. to be dedicated to him.

Celebrations connected to this 120th anniversary will take place on June 2 at 4 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Church with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and continued with dinner at the ZPA, Perth Amboy.

  1. JOHN GRONDELSKI says:

There is an appeal pending in the Holy See’s Congregation for the Clergy, seeking to overturn the merger of St. Stephens with other parishes on, among other grounds, that this decision unjustly deprives Polish Catholics in Perth Amboy and environs of rights they enjoy as a personal (ethnic) rather than territorial parish. The Diocese of Metuchen appears basically to be intent on a campaign of ethnic cleansing by suppressing personal parishes in the Diocese, witness suppression/mergers in Carteret and the present intentions in Perth Amboy. Catholics have a right to defend their parish and its canonical rights against such unjust victimization. You always have a right to appeal decisions of suppression within a very limited period after their announcement. For Catholics seeking advice on how to appeal such actions, please feel free to contact me at grondelski@op.PL – John Grondelski
