The media, radio, television and newsprint have been pointing out the abuse of handheld electronic equipment while operating a motor vehicle. Law enforcement cannot cope with the volume of offenses. Phones, i-pods, text messaging systemes are everywhere.
Accidents which are caused by distracted drives are numerous. Death by auto is frequently attributed to these abuses.
I suggest that those of us who care about our safety on the roads must act to assist in overcoming this menace to everyone on the roads. A simple but annoying method to let offending motorist know that you are aware of their law violation is to blow your horn as you pass their vehicle. I have done this many time with the resulting end being a glaring look an often times the finger. Most times the phone or other device is put down.
Horn blowing for this purpose may not be totally acceptable to non-offenders. Saving one life is worth all the horn noise this will create.
Respectfully;
