PERTH AMBOY – 4 people are running together as a slate in the Perth Amboy Board of Education election on Nov. 6. Using the banner of “A New Vision, A New Voice …” Jeanette Gonzalez, Nina Perkins-Nieves and Benjamin Salerno are seeking election to the three year positions, and Maria Garcia is pursuing the unexpired two year position created by a previous resignation to the board.

All four candidates say they are parents of students who are either currently enrolled or have recently graduated from Perth Amboy Public Schools and share the belief that the current leadership of the board has failed to guide the school district in a professional manner and has become so bogged down in infighting that the district is failing to meet the needs of its students, their parents and educators employed by the district.
