PERTH AMBOY – Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Benjamin Ruiz, Acting Chief of the Perth Amboy Police Department, announced today that a former youth pastor has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy on numerous occasions more than a decade ago.
Jeffrey Mackintosh (DOB 8/11/1965) of Dinah Drive, Phillipsburg, was arrested at his home on July 19, 2012, at 9:15 p.m. on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Mackintosh, who works as a computer technician, is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $150,000.00 bail. He must post the full amount before he can be released.
He was arrested during an investigation by Investigator Gregory Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Pete Boulieris of the Perth Amboy Police Department.
The investigation began on July 5, 2012, after the 12-year-old boy, now an adult, contacted the Perth Amboy Police Department.
The investigation determined that Mackintosh, while serving as youth pastor at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, repeatedly sexually assaulted the boy between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2000.
The investigation further showed that the sex assaults occurred in a private room in the church, which at that time was located at 282 King Street in Perth Amboy. The church since has relocated in Perth Amboy, and the building on King Street was demolished years ago.
Mackintosh, who served as youth pastor between 1993 and 2004, was responsible for church-sponsored youth activities such as sporting events and trips to shopping malls.
He was not affiliated with the church when it relocated.
He since has been a member of churches in Woodbridge and Cranford, but has not served in any official or volunteer capacities with those churches.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Mackintosh are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
