COMMUNITY VOICE: Facts About Gun Control

It is sad to see the emotional comments from those who don’t know and can’t learn about the problems of Gun Prohibition. In 1968 Congress passed a Gun Control Act. They said it was to stop the number of shooting deaths, then 7,000 a year. Afterwards the number of shooting deaths tripled. Did they learn anything from that? The effects of this and other laws was falling wages (“stagnant” is the code word), higher taxes, and a devalued currency. Gun Control is the first step of political oppression since April 19, 1775. Since poverty is associated with crime will they ask for a higher minimum wage and standard income tax deduction? No, just look at NYC Mayor Bloomberg’s actions.

It is common knowledge that areas with the most guns have the least crime (there are other factors). A legal researcher studied the effects of gun control and wrote a book with the statistics that refuted the lies of Gun Prohibitionists (“More Guns, Less Crime” by John Lott). Many have pointed out that a “gun free zone” (like a church) presents a target for a terrorist or mass murderer. Who didn’t learn this lesson? There were no school shootings until years after the 1968 Gun Control Act. Many high schools then had rifle teams, a legacy from the earliest days of the USA. People who are driven by emotional reactions are never the most proper and thoughtful advisors on laws for the rest of us.
