COMMUNITY VOICE: Bullying in the Workplace

Most of us equate bullying with adolescents, schoolyard behavior, yet it frequently extends beyond those parameters. It happens out in the street where thugs roam freely intimidating others with real or perceived bodily harm. Sad to say that bullying also occurs in the workplace.

Those in authority abuse their power creating a tenuous environment making an already stressful situation even less harmonious. Yet one is baffled as to what recourse can be used against this type of bullying.

Speak up and there is the veiled threat of being terminated or of some other reprisal. Yet does that mean it (the bullying) should be accepted or tolerated? What is the difference between Juvenile and adult intimidation?

Should one type be forbidden and the other okay? The answer is no!

very true. Though luckily we live in a society that does not tolerate bullying as much as it did. be sure to report them to the right authorities.
