Mission Statement: Mayoral Candidate Bob McCoy

Bob McCoy served as Chief Administrator for the City of Perth Amboy Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ), and the Coordinator for the Perth Amboy Business Improvement District.

Under his administrative leadership the UEZ program was instrumental in the creation of thousands of new jobs and in attracting over 200 new businesses and promoting a vibrant climate to the existing Business Community in the City of Perth Amboy.

The UEZ program resulted in more than $19.5 million in new capital improvements in the City’s commercial districts and made significant contributions to the overall redevelopment of Perth Amboy.

He implemented a host of programs including Streetscape and Sidewalk Improvements Projects, A Mad Vac Street Cleaning Machine that operates 7 days a week, a revolving Loan Program that offered low interest loans and Micro Loans to UEZ Businesses, and introduced a 1.5 million dollar Business Recrutiment and Marketing project.

He also implemented a variety of new projects and activities throughout the Business District. The BID introduced a series of summer events called First Friday’s that featured Jazz concerts, Domino tournaments, Classic Car exhibitions, arts & crafts festivals and the revival of the Bayview Park Blueberry Festival. He was instrumental for introducing the Perth Amboy Gallery for the Arts.

Bob McCoy was the Executive Director of the Cathedral Community Development Corporation (CCDC) which built ten units of affordable housing in Perth Amboy, established and managed the Cathedral Cafe, a for-profit restaurant established a “trackless trolley” service in Perth Amboy and administered the Timothy House Transitional Housing program for men.

Bob McCoy will offer new ideas to expand our City’s tax base and work to stabilize property taxes, create revitalization, stimulate and attract economic redevelopment and create jobs.
