Thrown Out of Court

PERTH AMBOY — At the October 24, 2012 Council Meeting, resident John Siberry brought up a personal matter pertaining to Councilman Kenneth Gonzalez. Siberry mentioned at the meeting that he had distributed to several media outlets photos and complaints he had filed in court accusing the Councilman of misuse of a handicapped parking decal of a deceased person.

Councilman Kenneth Gonzalez countered the claim which was thrown out of court heard in Woodbridge Township. The decal in question belonged to a person “Who was like a father to my wife,” stated Gonzalez. He continued that, “John Siberry has been following him and my wife for years while taking photos. Although that close relative has passed, my wife and I have been transporting another handicapped individual. This decal has been used for her.”

Two residents who spoke later during the meeting brought up the issue of handicapped decals being misused, especially if the handicapped person is not in the vehicle when it is being utilized.
