High Water Bills Questioned

11/28/12 Meeting

PERTH AMBOY — Councilman Fernando Gonzalez brought before the Council complaints from Seniors who were paying over $100 for their water bills. Many Seniors wanted to know why their bills were so high especially those who were living alone.
Councilman Joel Pabon also brought up the fact that 698 Cortlandt St. and 173-175 Smith St. also had residents having high water bills. Councilman Bill Petrick wondered if it was difficult for a City to know if tenants were paying their bills late or maybe they were keeping their water running.  Are pipes being shared between units?
Councilman Petrick also thanked three employees from Elizabethtown Gas for a fast response time during the recent hurricane.
