Senator Vitale & Assemblyman Coughlin Applaud…

BASF Corporation Employees And Colonia AARP For Participating In Sandy Relief Collection Drive

19th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT – Senator Joseph F. Vitale and Assemblyman Craig J. Coughlin wish to applaud Metropark-based BASF Corporation employees and members of the Colonia AARP for participating in the Joint Legislative Office’s post-Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive where both organizations donated hundreds of non-perishable food items, diapers, blankets, flashlights, batteries, toiletries, and toys for families affected by Hurricane Sandy. On Friday, November 30, the Salvation Army, located in Perth Amboy retrieved the donated items and will distribute to needy families in Carteret, Perth Amboy, Sayreville, South Amboy and Woodbridge, among other area municipalities hard hit by the storm.

“The generosity of both organizations, BASF Corporation and Colonia AARP, was incredible. They truly went above and beyond in delivering a helping hand to those families still struggling for a sense of normalcy,” said Senator Vitale, who added, “The Salvation Army continues to be a stalwart in the public service community and has been a tremendous partner throughout my term in office. I commend them for stepping up to the plate for area families.”

“I toured the unprecedented devastation in all corners of the 19th District, and without question, dozens, if not hundreds, of families will be grateful for the donated items. All of the credit belongs to BASF and Colonia AARP for their generosity. Our office simply served as a designated drop off location,” said Assemblyman Coughlin. “While the response has been remarkable, the need to help our neighbors remains ever present. Senator Vitale and I remind our constituents that our office will continue to serve as a collection site throughout the holiday season.”
