COMMUNITY VOICE: Ken Gonzalez Resolution Response Letter

“I am grateful that the majority of the City Council agreed to vote against the resolution which I truly believe was brought solely for political reasons to try to embarrass me by an outgoing councilman with whom I have often been on opposite sides on various political issues. I am also grateful that review of the facts by the proper law enforcement agencies led to the dismissal of the parking ticket issued by Mr Siberry against me and that they further agreed that no other charges were warranted in this case. Hopefully the politics of negativity, destruction and division pursued by a small group of three or four people will be left behind in 2012. With the swearing in of the second term of Mayor Diaz and the reorganization of the City Council coming on January 3rd, we are looking forward to getting back to the business of moving the City of Perth Amboy forward in a constructive manner with malice towards none and charity towards all.”

“As to the comments made by Leslie Dominguez Rodriguez at the last City Council meeting, they clearly border on slanderous. As to the merits of her statement, I have already stated that I was texting with Kurt Rebovich while I was sitting in the audience during the last Board of Education meeting. Ms. Dominguez Rodriguez came from across the auditorium to sit down next to me and watch me text. I made no effort to hide my texting because I knew I was doing nothing wrong. When Board Secretary Jess came to speak with me, I showed him my cell phone to confirm my texts but I did agree to stop texting however simply to avoid any further conflict. Both Mr Jess and Mr Rebovich can confirm the veracity of my statements. When I stated this publicly, Ms Dominguez Rodriguez inexplicably changed her story to say that someone next to me and others in the audience were the ones texting. Ms Dominguez Rodriguez has stated her intent to run for City Council in 2014 and is obviously attempting to start her campaign early by attempting to malign one of her anticipated opponents.”
