Project Fleece Blanket

PERTH AMBOY, NJ — Mayor Wilda Diaz joined the students of the Dr. Robert N. Richardson 21st Century Elementary School on Saturday, December 22, 2012 afternoon to receive 80 blankets for the families affected by Superstorm Sandy.

“We are grateful for this caring donation of blankets made by our very own students,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz.

Project Fleece Blanket was presented by Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Darian Llopis and was thereafter incorporated into the daily lesson plans of the school teachers. Donations for 252 yards of fleece were collected by the school staff and each classroom [800 students] made two blankets for a boy and girl.

“It was an excellent opportunity to teach community service and paying it forward to the Hurricane Sandy victims,” said Karen Moffatt, Interim Principal.
