Margot Camino Presented with Congressional Medal

PERTH AMBOY — Margot Camino, a Perth Amboy resident, is a senior at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung. She received the Bronze Congressional Medal (as well as a Bronze Certificate and a Silver Certificate). In addition, she received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for her outstanding volunteer work and service to the community of Perth Amboy. The Congressional Award Program is about challenge. The Award offers young people the opportunity to set personally challenging goals and achieve them. Along the way, they serve their communities and learn about qualities like responsibility, citizenship, and the ability to plan and organize.

Margot completed over 100 hours of community service by volunteering at PRAHD during the summer and after-school. She also organized a book drive at her school and donated the books to PRAHD’s after-school program and the Wilentz School. On days off she volunteered to read to elementary school children. Margot also set personal goals in the areas of personal development, physical fitness, and expedition/exploration. She kept a detailed log of her goals and activities in order to meet the program’s requirement.
