Jeff Saxon’s Jazz and Latin-Tinged, Life-Affirming Message Song Tops Field of 15

PERTH AMBOY – The music video for New Jersey based singer-songwriter Jeff Saxon’s original song, “Yes Is My Favorite Word,” was awarded Best Music Video at the just concluded 2014 New Hope Film Festival in Pennsylvania.
The New Hope Film Festival, founded in 2009 by entrepeneur Doug Whipple, is especially renowned as a cutting-edge and global film festival in the heart of Bucks County; Pennsylvania’s riverside art colony, New Hope. This highly prestigious, IMDb-qualifying festival received close to 500 submissions this year, approximately 200 of which were nominated. Saxon’s winning video prevailed over 14 official selections and 3 other finalists in the category.
The jazzy, feel-good midtempo track from Saxon’s critically-heralded Blujanova album (released last July on Relevant Records) won festival judges over with its positive theme and heart-tugging visual performances. The video, which was also nominated by the judges in the Best Inspirational Video category, was produced by NewMask Media Productions and filmed at various locations in Middlesex County, NJ and Pennsylvania.
Saxon’s Blujanova CD has attracted international airplay and acclaim. Blues Matters!, the UK’s most-read blues magazine, described Saxon’s melding of blues, jazz and bossa nova as “very clever…something with a real twist which is very absorbing and experimental.”
George W. Harris at Jazz Weekly wrote: “Blujanova is an intelligent recording…Saxon mixes jazz, adult soul and pop in a way that I thought was lost after Kenny Rankin passed on.”
Prior to this latest accolade, Saxon, a Middlesex County resident, won Best Music Video awards in 2011 at The Awareness Film Festival in Los Angeles and in 2012 at The World Music and Independent Film Festival in Washington, D.C.
