PERTH AMBOY – It was 2 against 1 at the 8/13/14 Council Meeting.

Perth Amboy Democratic Chair Leslie Dominguez-Rodriguez told the Council that she asked them in February of this year that they consider moving the election to be partisan with a primary.

Dominguez said, “This would be in the best interest of Perth Amboy residents. (See letter in the 8/20/14 issue of the Amboy Guardian)

Fernando Gonzalez

Former Councilman Fernando Gonzalez agreed with Rodriguez. He said, “When I was on the Council, I voted “no”  to moving the elections to November. At that time the Governor gave us a chance to do that. Most of the Cities voted “no” to that November move. I think you are intelligent (Speaking to the Council) I think there should be run-off’s. It is very confusing to have 3 elections on one ballot. We should get a committee to address this issue. And there should be a run-off built into it. This government right now is very confusing for the voters.”
