Let’s put politics aside. N0v. 11, 2014 was a GREAT DAY to be PROUD of the City of Perth Amboy.

As you may have noticed in the last few weeks, there have been ads in the paper touting the Joint Celebration of Veterans Day and the Ceremony Commemorating the 225th Anniversary of the Ratification of the Bill of Rights (November 20, 1789).

Perth Amboy, like any other small city, has its faults. Whenever anyone points out the City’s faults, you as the resident, whether lifetime, longtime or new to the City should be proud to stick out your chest and declare: “Do you know where the Bill of Rights was first ratified?” The answer: “Perth Amboy!” And you CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US!

You can proudly declare that the original document, The Bill of Rights was on display, on November 11, 2014, at Perth Amboy City Hall. It is the oldest continuous functioning city hall in the United States. We hope everyone, not only in the city but in the surrounding communities and states, could take the rare opportunity to see this important historic document.

We give special thanks to Barry Rosengarten, Chair of Celebrate Perth Amboy who made this possible. 25 years ago in 1989, Rosengarten was chair of Celebrate Perth Amboy: The Bill of Rights Bicentennial (see photo below of the reenactment). He was the catalyst who recruited others to commemorate that historic event and the moving force to have the Arch in City Hall Circle built where the Reenactment of the signing of the bill took place. Hats off to you, Barry!
