WOODBRIDGE – Joseph Chiarella was born on September 19, 1914 in Richmond Hill, New York. He came to Perth Amboy in 1936 where he met Assunta Nardiello. They were married in 1938 and were together for nearly 70 years.
He worked as a general foreman for American Smelting and Refining Company for 41 years, retiring in 1976.
Joe has always loved to cook and garden for his family. For 60 years he was an avid bowler, traveling to Nevada, Texas and other states to bowl in National tournaments. He was also President of the Middlesex County Bowling Association from 1961 to 1962.
In 2003, Joe moved to Woodbridge where he now resides with his daughter and granddaughter. He is the proud father of Joanne and Eugene; grandfather to Leigh, Angela, Cindy and Joe; and great-grandfather to Mason, Gavin, Adam, Abby and Emily.
As long-time member of the Seniors, Joe was chairperson for quite a few luncheons for the Seniors. He was always available to serve at the luncheon, cook and make salads.
