PERTH AMBOY – It was Councilman Kenneth Gonzalez’ last meeting on 12/10/14. The following are sentiments expressed about Gonzalez from his fellow Council Members.

Fernando Irizarry spoke about Gonzalez’ character, integrity and love for the community. “You actually stepped up and faced the critics in the arena. You stumbled and made mistakes, but you stood up. I wish you Godspeed.”

Lisa Nanton echoed the same sentiments as Irizarry and added how much she is going to miss Gonzalez.  “You are a fair, generous and honest person.”

Joel Pabon thanked Gonzalez for his service to the community. “I know that you’ll be a great help in the court system.”

Bill Petrick said, “It’s been a pleasure serving and campaigning with you and I know you’ll be a fair judge.”

When Kenneth Gonzalez spoke, he complimented his fellow Council Members, Elaine Jasko the City Clerk, Jillian Barrick, the B.A. and City Attorney Mark Blunda and Mayor Wilda Diaz. He said, “Irizarry is the conscience on the Council and admired his integrity.” He brought up, “Pabon’s strong point is that  he is very community minded. Bill Petrick is incredibly intelligent and his nickname is Councilman Google. To Lisa Nanton, I will miss you most of all, Scarecrow. You are so pleasurable.”

Gonzalez thanked his wife, Jeannette who was sitting in the back. “I am a very lucky man.”

He thanked the citizens of Perth Amboy who supported him. “This is the place that’s full of potential. I am optimistic that this Council and Mayor that the City will get back to its rightful spot. I want to thank the employees of the City. You can’t turn them into dollars and cents. We have phenomenal and dedicated people in each department. I want to acknowledge Elaine Jasko who is a very valuable source of info not only to us but to the residents. I think Jillian Barrick will do well here. Mark Blunda is amazing, unflappable, solid and takes everything in stride. Our Mayor and her staff are very hard working and go out of their way to be courteous and professional. She is a treasure. I didn’t vote for her the first time, but she is sincere and loving. She is a great person to have at the steering wheel. We are blessed to have her.”
