Voter Suppression?

LetterToday, I attended the swearing in of the new council and I was taken aback when the newly elected councilman Fernando Gonzalez claimed that there are people who want to suppress the vote…On my way out I picked up the Amboy Guardian and there is a letter from the chair of the Democratic party claiming the same and telling voters not to cooperate with an investigation about FRAUDULENT CASTING OF VOTES…

My brain works very fast in questioning those that make outlandish illogical  comments and pretend that it is something else instead of for their own benefit..Let us think for a minute. If election law has certain rules in place, and those rules were not followed by some who submitted an absentee vote, is that suppression of the vote or is that implementing the law?

Why would the head of the Democratic party in this city tell citizens not to cooperate with an investigation if she believes that they are innocent and did all according to the rule of law? Wouldn’t any of you if accused of something that damages your good name want the investigation to take place? If you are totally innocent wouldn’t you tell all that supported you to comply with the law?

This is troubling in many different ways…First, if there was something illegal with the casting of votes, all of us are affected as citizens of this country. Our votes would have been manipulated and cancelled by those that shouldn’t be voting..The other concern is how can the representative of a political party advise people not to follow the law and cooperate with an investigation..Lastly, what exactly are they are afraid of if they did follow the law and all who cast votes for them are duly citizens of the USA and duly residents of Perth Amboy then, let them speak to the investigators to clear their names and show all that the elections in Perth Amboy were clean and proper..

Rinny

When January 1st comes along, many of us make resolutions hoping to better our positions in life.  But sometimes situations arise and things change.  I celebrated the New Year at midnight like millions of Americans.  Little did I realize that my enthusiasm for the new year would be turned into tears.  My little dog Rinny who is a Choodle, went on the porch to celebrate with me, when suddenly the sound of fireworks pierced her little ears.  She panicked and ran off the porch and up the street.  I searched for her until morning came.  I called the animal shelter to see if anyone may have seen her and heard the news that no one wants to hear.  She had been hit by a car and was gone.

For those of you with pets, remember this.  They are with you all day in body or spirit and the memory of them never leaves you.  My little Rinny was my best friend.  When God made her, He broke the mold.

Now I know what the meaning of a friend is – to be with you, console you when you are sad and comfort you.  She left me with memories I shall never forget.  Her eyes showed devotion that I never saw in a human.  The way she followed me around told me she didn’t want me out of her sight.

When God brought her to us, I knew instantly that we would keep her.  There could have been no other decision than “yes, she is a keeper.”

Three years is not a long time for anyone – no less a pet.  But she left us with untold memories.  I thank God for those precious three years.  I know God had her in mind when He took her.  He must have wanted her for himself.

God’s answer to loneliness is having a pet in your life.

Unfair

Why is it that a landlord is required to provide electricity, heat and water to a tenant who may be several months delinquent in rent, but a utility company with millions of dollars in revenue per month is allowed to shut off the very same things for non-payment? I guess it doesn’t matter that a landlord may need income from rent to help pay utilities, taxes and/or a mortgage from his meager profit.

Yours Truly,
