PERTH AMBOY – At the 1/7/15 BOE Meeting a motion was put on the table to open negotiations with the Housing Authority to purchase a portion of the Delaney Homes land.
Board Member Obi Gonzalez spoke, “We had a visit from the SDA and have approval for a school. The B.A. of Public Schools (for Middlesex County) will negotiate the purchase of the Delaney Homes Property from the Housing Authority for the construction of a new High School. As past President of the Board of Education, I was the Go-To Person. We want to do our due diligence to have all properties available to us. The Delaney Homes is the best option we have. The SDA has committed money to us. I want to assure the public. We are working through this problem.”
Board Vice President Israel Varela said, “I personally was looking at the biggest place. By the time we build this school, it will be overcrowded. Unfortunately we have to take what’s available. I wish we had more time. Those are the cards we were dealt with.”
The motion passed unanimously.
