PERTH AMBOY – The skies were overcast, but the weather held up as a community march began from the Cathedral International and ended in City Hall Circle for a second ceremony.

This was the first Y.O.U. MATTER March, appropriately held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Y.O.U. is an acronym for Youth Organized for Unity, a nonprofit community service organization. Y.O.U.’s purpose is to have a positive relationship between law enforcement, urban youth and community leaders. The sole purpose of this day was to have a forum to engage in having a positive and uplifting spirit which embraced the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Those in attendance at the church included local Politicians, members of the Police Department, Community Leaders (Civic and Spiritual) and most importantly youth organizations. There was a mixture of all different age groups and ethnic backgrounds. Performances included dancing and singing. Speeches were delivered by clergy, politicians and local youth and community leaders.

There is Facebook page with more information about the  Y.O.U. MATTER  organization. https://www.facebook.com/YOUthmatter2015.
