Fire on Brighton Avenue

By: Joe Bayona PERTH AMBOY - There was a report of heavy smoke at 162 Brighton Ave. in the early afternoon. According to Fire Chief Abraham Pitre when the Fire Department first rolled up on the scene, flames were coming through the roof. There was a report of a person trapped inside. Upon entry, the Fire Department did a search and found no one and knocked the fire down in ten minutes. There were no injuries. Fire Departments from Perth Amboy, Hopelawn, South Amboy and Woodbridge responded. Fire Departments from Sayreville and Keasbey were on stand-by. There was approximately a total of 25 Firefighters at the scene.
