Waste Not Want Not

PERTH AMBOY – Councilman Joel Pabon and Council President Lisa Nanton were not afraid to step in it. On Brace Avenue and in the Washington Park area there have been problems with people walking there because of animal waste.

Pabon said, “We need to start ticketing violators, because the City will have to take care of the problem. “This can be additional revenue if violators are ticketed. A Department of Public Works employee said something to a person who did not pick up their dog’s waste and the employee was told off.”

Nanton gave a brief history how fecal waste has been a health hazard in the past. “It’s extremely dangerous to children.” She was also concerned about the garbage cans in public areas, especially down by the waterfront. “They should be washed out when they are emptied. The smell is horrible.”
