Statements from Sergio Diaz and Fernando Gonzalez on the recent election

Return to main election story.

Statement from Sergio Diaz

Regarding

May 12, 2015 Special Election:

PERTH AMBOY – I would like to congratulate Fernando Gonzalez on a hard-fought campaign. Although the result is not what I would have hoped for, I am confident that we can now come together to work for the greater good of a city we all love.

I am truly grateful for the support I received.  I want to thank the volunteers who dedicated their time and hard work because they were truly the backbone of the campaign.

Statement from Fernando

Gonzalez

Regarding

May 12, 2015 Special Election:

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in the May 12 election. Especially those who supported the New Direction team.  I promise that I will continue to be the voice of all the citizens of Perth Amboy.  I look forward to once again serving our community and representing “you” on the City Council.

A great deal of negative campaigning took place in our city, as a result of a questionable ruling in the Middlesex County Superior Court.  It is still our position that this election should not have happened, as no one did anything wrong in the November 4, 2014 election.  I am extremely happy at the outcome of this election, as those who were unfairly accused of wrongdoings have been vindicated.

The people of Perth Amboy have once again reaffirmed who they would like to represent them on City Council. I am asking everyone including, Mayor Diaz, Sergio Diaz and my fellow city council members to join me in turning the page on this chapter of Perth Amboy history.  We must do our best to work together in moving our great city in a new and positive direction.

Thank you,

Fernando A. Gonzalez
