Concerts By The Bay, Inc. Free Summer Series

PERTH AMBOY – The free summer concerts presented by Concerts By The Bay, Inc. began Sunday, July 5 & will be presented through August 30, 3 PM at Bayview Park, at the foot of Market Street Perth Amboy.  This series features The Garden State Symphonic Band, conducted by Chris Pedersen  gssband.com.  The audience is asked to bring a blanket or chair.  In case of inclement weather (rain or excessive heat), Concert will be held at the Jankowski Center, 1 Olive Street, off Market St., Perth Amboy

The Garden State Symphonic Band can trace its history back to 1907 when it first emerged as the Goodwill Fife & Drum Corps, which, after a few short years, in 1910, became the Goodwill Fife, Drum & Bugle Corps. In 1920 it became the Goodwill Band, which , in 1958 changed its name to the Bay City Band. In 1967 the name was again changed, this time to The Garden State Symphonic Band, the name that the band operates under to this day.

In recognition of its 100 years of music making, the Band has been the recipient of special congratulatory citations, resolutions and/or proclamations – in the House of Representatives by the Hon. Frank Pallone, Jr.; in the New Jersey State Legislature by Senator Buona and Assemblymen Barnes & Diegnan, and in the Woodbridge township Council Chambers by Mayor John E. McCormac and the Town Council.

Point Pleasant Beach Trip
PERTH AMBOY – Saturday, August 15 from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. $20 Adults; $15 Children under 11. (Money Orders ONLY) Includes Beach Pass, Aquarium Tour & Miniature Golf. Transportation is included. Trip to Rocking Horse Ranch
PERTH AMBOY – The Holy Spirit Seniors in Perth Amboy is sponsoring a trip to Rocking Horse Ranch Resort in N.Y. Mon. Sept. 28 to Fri. Oct. 2, 2015. All are welcome! Price is $615 each person for double occupancy, $605 each for triple occupancy and $715 each for single. Initial deposit of $100 is due now. Final payment is due Aug. 15, 2015. Atlantic City Bus Trip
PERTH AMBOY – There will be a bus trip to Resorts Casino on Sunday, August 9. Sponsored by the Fellowship Circle of the Hungarian Reformed Church, 331 Kirkland Place, Perth Amboy. Bus leaves the church at 12:00 Noon for a 6 hour stay at the Casino from when we arrive in AC. Cost: $27.00 per person.You will receive $25 in slot play. Bagged lunch provided. PERTH AMBOY – “Come and join the Perth Amboy  Home Gardener Contest sponsored by the Royal Garden Club by the Bay. Summer is in full bloom and we’re excited to see Perth  Amboy’s home gardens of shrubs, flowers, and vegetables. All amateur gardens of beds/borders, containers, water features, porch/deck/patio are eligible to compete for the top three prizes of $100, $50 and $25. Applications are available at City Hall.”

PAHS Class of 1960 Reunion
PERTH AMBOY – The PAHS Class of 1960 will be holding their 55 year reunion at the Hotel Woodbridge at Metropark in Iselin, NJ the weekend of September 18th, 19th  and 20th. We have a Friday get together, Saturday dinner dance and Sunday brunch. You are able to come to any or all of the events. We have accommodation arrangements with the hotel for the weekend.
