For more than 30 years, Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Health Group has operated WIC (The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) in Monmouth and Middlesex Counties to provide nutrition education, nutritious foods, breastfeeding counseling and healthcare referrals to eligible NJ women who are pregnant or post-partum, infants and children under the age of 5.

In the 1980’s, Jacqueline Baker was a pregnant teenager, unsure of where to turn when she contacted VNA Health Group and was enrolled into their WIC program. As a recipient of the program, Jaqueline was offered guidance and care by nutritional counselor Enid Blank, who left an indelible mark on the artist. Upon learning the news that Ms. Blank had passed away in 2013, Jacqueline was motivated to find a way to honor her and give back to the community and began working on a painting to portray Ms. Blank. The event will unveil the works of art including this painting and a mural recently painted by children and families who are current recipients of the program.
