Did the Meeting Violate the Ordinance?
PERTH AMBOY – Resident Alan Silber questioned the Council as to the reason to the reason that the Council Meeting originally scheduled for 8/12/15 was changed to 8/10/15 at 7 p.m. This would be after the regular scheduled 8/10/15 4:30 p.m. Caucus Meeting. Silber continued, “The meeting schedule is published early in the year and there are only one Council and Caucus Meetings in the months of July, August and December. The Council is paid and some spent a lot of money to get elected. You should plan your personal schedule accordingly so you can attend the meetings.”
He read the ordinance pertaining to the Caucus and Council Meeting schedule, “When did you and the Council decide to change the Council Meeting date?”
Council President Lisa Nanton stated that they wouldn’t have a quorum on 8/12/15 and there was a public notice on 7/23/15.
Silber stated that in his opinion anything voted on tonight should not count.
City Attorney Mark Blunda said, “Meetings can be rescheduled for a lack of quorum.”
Silber said, “This is the first time this has happened.”
