Press Release 9/4/15
PERTH AMBOY – Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Perth Amboy hospital is flying the NJ Sharing Network flag through September 8 in remembrance of Ruden Hernandez, a Perth Amboy woman who passed away at the hospital September 1. Ms. Hernandez’s decision to register as an organ donor is supported by her family; her lifelong partner Ottoniel and daughter Altagracia Galvez. Her life-saving gifts will ensure that other families’ loved ones will get a second chance at life.
“The flag raising honors the generosity of Ruden Hernandez and her family and pays tribute to their decision to donate life,” said NJ Sharing Network Hospital Services Manager Melissa Peck. “The flag shows the support of the Raritan Bay Medical Center community for donor families and raises awareness of the life-saving and life-restoring value of organ and tissue donation.”
NJ Sharing Network is a non-profit, federally designated organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for more than 5000 New Jersey residents in need of life-saving transplants. Anyone who wants to learn more or register to become an organ or tissue donor can visit www.NJSharingNetwork.org.
