“Conversations in Black and White” Conference Addresses Church Role in Critical Issues

PERTH AMBOY – “The role of the church in troubled times”, “black and white lives matter” and the “consequences of the continuing racial divide” are some of the topics being addressed  at “Conversations In Black and White” during the Eagles’ Gathering. Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr., Senior Pastor at Cathedral International was scheduled to convene this conference on October 22 – 25, 2015, Cathedral International Campus, Perth Amboy, NJ.

“These are issues facing local and national communities that the church must address,” states Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr. He goes on to state that it is imperative for religious and community leaders to reason and strategize together. The 2015 Eagles’ Gathering: Conversations in Black and White will amplify the conversation and equip leaders to effectively bring reconciliation and wholeness to their communities and the nation.

Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr., is celebrating 32 years of pastoring next month.  He is speaking at this conference along with the following national leaders:

Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant – well known and respected pastor of Empowerment Temple AME Church, Baltimore; played an active role in assisting the community after riots broke out following the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, MD. He is running for congress with a focus on police reform and job opportunities.

Dr. Leonard I. Sweet is an American theologian, church historian, pastor, and author. Sweet currently serves as the E. Stanley Jones Professor of Evangelism at Drew Theological School at Drew University. He is regularly voted one of the most influential Christian leaders in America
