PERTH AMBOY – Thomas Ward was a longtime resident of Perth Amboy. He died suddenly on 10/12/15. He was remembered along with Marie Petrick, mother of Councilman Bill Petrick.
Council President and Proprietary House President Lisa Nanton became very emotional when she remembered Tom at the beginning of the meeting. She called for a moment of silence for Ward and Mrs. Petrick after the prayer was said and before the Pledge of Allegiance at the Regular Meeting. She recalled how important he was, not only to the community, but also as a longtime friend and colleague.
Ward was a well known artist who was noted for his many murals that could be found in City Hall, private homes, businesses, churches and most notably the Proprietary House. Most notably many of his murals depicted the historical sites of Perth Amboy. Tom was also a long time commissioner of the Board of Adjustments. He served as a trustee at the Proprietary House for many years.
Resident Reinaldo Aviles said, “Ward should be recognized. Tom put in a lot of hours at the Prop House to restore it, even when his wife was ill. We should lower the flag at half staff in his honor.
