EDITORIAL: It’s A Whole Different Ball of Wax

america-united-vector-illustration_Mk0cabOu_LEveryone has a difference of opinion about the Syrian Refugees coming to the United States.

There are those who are looking strictly through rose colored glasses and others which includes ourselves who are looking first at the security for the Citizens of the United States. The FBI admitted that we simply don’t have the database to vet refugees.

You can’t discount what happened recently in Paris. You have to look at the whole world in general and what ISIS has done, is doing and will continue to do.

Some are under the illusion that everyone is the whole world is the same and values the same things. That is the farthest from the truth.

What kind of person would strap explosives onto themselves or their child? What kind of people would have in their school textbooks to teach hatred towards those who don’t share their beliefs.

I used to watch the show “The View” before they went off the wall. One of the discussions centered on the Syrian Refuges. Two of the panelists remarked that the refuges are being screened based on their religion, giving preference to those who are Christians. Then one panelist stated that  Hitler and Timothy McVeigh (Oklahoma City Bomber) were both Christians as if they were the representatives of all the Christians in the world.

First of all, McVeigh was agnostic. McVeigh was not a part of a terrorist movement such as the 9-11 terrorists. He acted alone and was motivated by his hatred of federal government.

Hitler was a secular leader and had a hatred towards Christians. He wanted Pastors to put their loyalty to him ahead of their loyalty to Christ. He viewed Christianity as a means of making people weak.

I have two words for the panelists who made that made these statements: You are an EMBARRASSMENT AND A DISGRACE!

All religions have good and bad apples. There is no question about that. You need to look at all the Christian Organizations that go overseas to  poverty stricken countries, many times risking their lives to help those in need.

Look at  what these and other religious organizations have  accomplished that are beneficial to the world.

It is the Leaders of these impoverished nations and dictatorial countries that are to blame for their plight of their people. Some will say that the United States has contributed to some of the discourse in these troubled countries by providing arms to militant groups who turned on the United States. Everyone makes mistakes and we are not trying to dismiss this. I would say as a whole Christianity has done much more good than bad.

Christians have contributed a lot to humanity: Abolition of slavery, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Civil Rights, a vast majority of our founding fathers were Christians, numerous soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, hospitals, universities, Prison ministries to help reform criminals.

When the dust clears and someone talks about how bad Christianity is, they have to go back over 500 years to the Spanish Inquisition. The savages that are now beheading, bombing and blowing up people including themselves and worse are still practicing barbarianism.

Some people cringe when talking about bringing back waterboarding. There is a doctor present. It’s part of a Navy Seal’s Training.

To behead someone is beyond the pale. Can you imagine, especially when it is televised what the family of the victim is going through? They will relive this pain over and over again until the day they die.

As always, we welcome your opinions.
