PERTH AMBOY – A Candlelight Vigil on Sunday, November 2 sponsored by the Perth Amboy Police Chaplain Corps took place. The vigil began at the Train Station with a prayer service led by Msgr. John Gordon, Rev. Paul Sears, Pastor Bernadette Falcon-Lopez, Salvation Army Captain Alex Rodriguez, Mayor Wilda Diaz and Assistant Administrator of AristiCare at Alameda Centr Junel Hutchetson. The prayers offered were for the plight of the homeless struggling to survive on the streets. There now is a new 211(or 1-877-652-1148 or click NJ211.org on the web) hotline which can be called to help those in need. This hotline helps the homeless access any shelter and/or case management services. The vigil continued with a candlelight procession to AristiCare. Kiaya Jones was in charge of the event. After a brief prayer service, care bags were provided to give to the homeless and light refreshments were given out.
