THE COMMUNITY VOICE: Letters to the Editor

Government Protection

LetterA recent letter said a government’s job is to protect the people but didn’t qualify his statement. Does that mean a government should totally control its subjects? They can’t be citizens if they are totally controlled by a government and its Ruling Class (those who control the government).

James Madison and others said that freedom and liberty result when political power is evenly distributed. This also requires “Income Equality”. Dictatorial restrictions on Freedom of Speech and Assembly or the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and other inherent rights of the people don’t really protect us. You can look that up in the history books.

I wonder what would have happened at that Paris Massacre or the Massacre at San Bernadino if dozens of the victims had the means to stop the killers? Isn’t this an obvious solution to the problem of terrorists?
