THE COMMUNITY VOICE: Letter to the Editor

In Defense of the Perth Amboy DPW

LetterAs we all know by now Perth Amboy was hit with a major snow storm – about 28 inches. After the storm, the people looked outside and they said: “Where’s the plows?” and “I can’t find a place to park my car.”  This was a monster storm and it took about a week to clean it up using every piece of equipment that the public works have plus outside help. Let’s understand one thing: the Perth Amboy Public Works can only do the main streets first then the others will come next. Those guys work until they drop or their plows break down. In fact, other towns were lucky to see a plow go by. Also, the streets were ready for New Jersey Transit Buses to transport many to work on Monday morning. Oh, by the way if the plow truck is going down the street and at the same time the bus is coming the other way – Who goes first? – The New Jersey Transit BUS or the PLOW TRUCK on narrow road. Maybe Mr. Frank Hoffman, Director of Public Works, has the answer.
