PERTH AMBOY − The City of Perth Amboy is hosting the “Network to Success” reception and business card exchange that includes a presentation by the UCEDC organization. The nonprofit UCEDC is an economic development corporation that assists companies with a range of services from training programs to business loans. Operating throughout New Jersey, the organization helps businesses secure financing from $500 to $5 million.

The networking event and business card exchange, presented by the City and Perth Amboy’s Business Improvement District (BID), will be held on Wednesday, June 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and pre-registration is required for the function at Seabra’s Armory Outdoor Patio, 200 Front Street in Perth Amboy. The scenic event features the patio overlooking Raritan Bay.

Business people can register online at networktosuccess2016.eventbrite.com. For more information, contact the Perth Amboy BID’s office at 732-442-6421.

Extending an invitation to executives, Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz said, “Our City pays attention to the needs of small businesses because these firms are the local economy’s backbone. At the networking event, we want to hear your ideas for public-private sector partnerships that produce positive changes in our downtown shopping area.”

BID Chairman Barry Rosengarten expects a record turnout and encouraged everyone to pre-register now.

Junel Hutchinson, the BID’s Events Committee Chairperson, said “We host networking events to connect business people, foster relationship-building between firms and provide attendees with useful, relevant information. While many executives are connected to clients and prospects by today’s technology, one-on-one conversations between executives can lead to valuable opportunities. The BID strives to nurture those contacts and exchanges.”

During the evening, UCEDC’s Ellen McHenry, senior director of financial programs, will be discussing the organization’s many financing options.  UCEDC’s lending programs are designed to assist small businesses when these firms cannot secure conventional financing.

The Perth Amboy BID presents year-long calendar events and programs to promote the City’s central business district. The BID also provides funds for enhancing a merchant’s exterior space, which creates a more inviting environment for residents and visitors to enjoy shopping, dining and entertainment.
