PERTH AMBOY AND SOUTH AMBOY – The fireworks spectacular over Raritan Bay and along the beautiful Perth Amboy and South Amboy waterfronts on Friday, July 1 sets the new standard for celebrating America’s Independence Day in New Jersey.

Perth Amboy and South Amboy are joining with “Celebrate our Stars & Stripes,” a nonprofit organization, to present sky-filling fireworks complete with brilliant bursts of light and booming sounds. Garden State Fireworks, recognized world champion in pyrotechnics design and display, is staging the event, which will be seen, heard and enjoyed by thousands of patriotic people.

Private contributions fund this completely free fireworks event. The “Celebrate Committee” is accepting donations in any amount from $20,000 to $50.  This is a community event and the fundraising effort is supported by the community.

At the Raritan Yacht Club, the Committee is also running a “Dunk Tank Fundraiser” on July 1, and anyone can suggest candidates who can use a “good dunking.”  Perth Amboy Law Director Arlene Quinones Perez and South Amboy Council President Mickey Gross have volunteered to get dunked.  Good-natured officers from the Perth Amboy and South Amboy fire and police departments have also volunteered to get wet.

The “Celebrate” fireworks will be the best in New Jersey.

Garden State Fireworks’ August Santore, Jr. said, “The ‘Amboys’ fireworks will be the largest local display during the July 4th weekend. The size and scope of fireworks show, the amount of high-powered pyrotechnics we’re using, and people in the viewing audience – make this the biggest ceremony in our State.”

Mayor Wilda Diaz said, “We host the Fourth of July weekend fireworks and activities to bring families together on America’s birthday. Equally important, we gather to appreciate the freedom, liberty and democracy which makes our nation a cherished place as well as a beacon of hope to everyone around the world.”

“We know it takes months of preparation to produce the “Celebrate our Stars & Stripes” fireworks for our communities, and we truly appreciate each person’s dedicated efforts,” said South Amboy Mayor Fred Henry. “Everything is in place for a grand evening, please join us to mark the moment in world history when America began its legacy as the home of the free and land of the brave.”

The pre-fireworks festivities along the Perth Amboy waterfront begin at 5 PM with music, food, and family fun.  The festivities along the South Amboy waterfront begins at 7 PM.  The crew from WCTC-AM and WMGQ-FM are playing non-stop music until the fireworks start. Fireworks fans can find food trucks and vendors on Sadowski Parkway from Wisteria Street to High Street. Food service continues to 9:30 PM.

The main events, the fireworks spectacular, starts with loud bangs, boom and brilliant bursts of light at 9:20 PM. The prime spots for viewing the fireworks are available along Water Street from the Raritan Yacht Club to the end of Sadowski Parkway (by Madison Avenue). During the fireworks the radio stations are simulcasting messages from the sponsors and festive sounds.

“Celebrate our Stars and Stripes” Committee Chairman Barry Rosengarten said, “We are grateful for all the support we received from Mayor Diaz and Mayor Henry. Each City’s Police, Fire and Public Works departments are supporting us, too. We are also grateful for donations from generous sponsors and people who volunteered their time to make our Independence Day Celebration an incredible success.”
