PERTH AMBOY – During the 6/22/16 Council Meeting, Board of Education President Sam Lebreault spoke as a representative of the Board of Education. He stated that too many things are being politicized. He read the statement at the meeting referencing what happened after the power went out at the 6/16/16 Board of Education Meeting at PAHS.

Later at the same Council Meeting, Deputy Police Chief Larry Cattano gave a brief synopsis of the blackout that occurred during the 6/16/16 Board of Education Meeting at PAHS. Cattano stated, “I was out of town when this happened. According to PSEG, the power went out at about 7:26 p.m. at Convery and Fayette Streets. I received a call from Jess (Board of Education Secretary) about the power going out of the high school. The information that I received is that the Keasbey Grid went out. The Egress (Emergency Lighting System) lights were out. When I arrived at the high school, the Fire Department was already there. I spoke with some of the Board of Education Members, their attorney and administrators that were in a room inside the high school. I asked for voluntary compliance. People outside were chanting. Around 8:15 p.m. the Meeting (Board of Education) was called. I did not order them out. It was voluntary. PSEG said that the breaker had tripped.”
