Gregory Pabon

PERTH AMBOY – Resident, Democratic Committeeman and Police Chaplain Gregory Pabon made a bold statement during the public portion at the 6/20/16 Caucus. He talked about a Freeholder’s meeting that he attended along with YMCA CEO Steve Jobin and Pastor Bernadette Falcon-Lopez. The topic of the meeting was the homeless.

Gregory Pabon said, “A lot of other cities put their homeless on the bus or train and shipped them to Perth Amboy or New Brunswick. Have the Freeholders come here to explain how they deal with their homeless by sending them here.”

This prompted Councilman Fernando Gonzalez to comment, “I was shocked at what the county said about the homeless. I helped create an organization to help with the homeless. I wondered if Perth Amboy was the dumping ground for such situations as these. Look at the number of organizations here to serve needy people. I want to count of the homeless population, not only of here but in the surrounding towns. We need to stop being the dumping ground of Middlesex County. We are enabling other cities who shun the homeless. We are just as valuable as other communities.”
