PERTH AMBOY –  On Monday, August 29, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers Mayor Wilda Diaz and the Perth Amboy Fire Department held a ceremony for the swearing-in of five recruits as firefighters, Jordian Aquino, Luilly Gonzalez, Melvin Inoa, Robert Velazquez Jr. and Arielle Bonilla, who is the first career female firefighter to be sworn-in in the history of the department. All the five new firefighters are military veterans serving oversees during their deployments. Arielle Bonilla will be expanding a firefighter family as her two older brothers are both Career Firefighters in the department.
