PERTH AMBOY  – Just as it was 15 years ago, it was a beautiful, bright sunny day as Perth Amboy remembered 9-11-01. There were stirring and emotional speeches by PAFD Chief Abraham Pitre and PAPD Detective, United States Recon Marine Jesus Martinez. They both became emotional recalling what they encountered.

They both went to New York to help at the Rescue and Recovery Efforts. The Police Chaplain Corps, which included Rev. Gregory Pabon, Chaplain Julio Vega, Rev. Carole Dortch-Wright, Pastor Paul Sears read scriptures. The Invocation was given by Police Chaplain Rabbi Ari Saks and the Benediction was given by Police Chaplain Msgr. John Gordon. Mayor Wilda Diaz made remarks. Vocals were provided by Tiffany Granger who sang the National Anthem and Dot Daniel who sang Amazing Grace, Precious Lord Take Hand and God Bless America where many members of the audience joined in.

Accompanying the Mayor with the laying of the wreath for fallen Perth Amboy residents Isaias Rivera and Richard Rodriguez were members of the Rodriguez family. The Middlesex County Pipe and Drum Corps played Amazing Grace as the wreath was laid at the monument followed by a 21 Gun Salute and the playing of taps.
