There was a movie titled: “A Few Good Men.” We are looking for 100 Good Businesses or Individuals for the Pink Ribbon Gala on Saturday, October 15, 2016 (see ad on page 15 in our print edition for full details). Everyone knows this is an election year, but truthfully politics is the last thing on my mind right now. In this editorial, I am concentrating on the Pink Ribbon Gala which will benefit Mary’s Place by the Sea. 2015 was the first year the Gala was run and we were overwhelmed by the response, but this year because of all the candidates running for office, it may have put a dent into ticket sales. There are many different ways you can support a candidate besides making a monetary donation. In essence, I’m asking you to take some of that money and buy a ticket to the Gala. If you own a business, perhaps you can buy a ticket to send one representative to support this very important nonprofit organization that benefits women going through cancer treatments. October is a very tough month because it seems to attract a lot of activities by many organizations. October has traditionally been Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but Mary’s Place by the Sea is for women diagnosed and undergoing treatment with all forms of cancer. They accept women not only from New Jersey but also from out of state.

In the past, I have stated that many times people have made political contributions to candidates and in a few short years those candidates have disappointed them. Again I am stating that when you support Mary’s Place by the Sea, you don’t have to worry about your money going to a good cause; you know it will be. We have a deadline of Friday, September 30, 2016 to get ticket sales up. So, as soon as you read this editorial, I’m asking Businesses or Individuals to call the number listed in the ad on Page 15 to let them know that you will be there with a check before 3 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016. Let’s make this happen and support women who desperately need the peace of mind and complimentary services that Mary’s Place by the Sea provides. Relieving stress is a very important element of the healing process, especially for anyone going through treatment for any illness. Just remember Mary’s Place by the Sea is a 501c3 who depends on the generosity of donations. All donations are tax deductible as allowed. C.M.
