SOUTH AMBOY – Two newcomers are vying for the seat in Ward 1 that will be vacant when Donald Applegate decided not to seek reelection. Thomas Reilly who was appointed to the Council to replace Joe O’Connor is now seeking his first full term and is running unopposed. Zusette Dato who was first elected to the Council in 2012 is also running unopposed.

The answers to the questions posed to South Amboy Candidates are here.

Brian McLaughlin pulled an upset when defeated Butch Mulchavy in the South Amboy Democratic Primaries. Eventually the South Amboy Democratic Party backed McLaughlin’s candidacy. It has been stated that he has a difference of opinion with some of the incumbents on how the City of South Amboy should grow.
