Towing Contracts Questioned

11/21/16 Caucus

PERTH AMBOY – R-477-11/16 – Authorizing execution of contracts for towing services for year 2016.

Councilman William Petrick said, “The name of the principal owners and where they would tow the cars is of concern. We should look at the private tow lots.”

Acting Law Director Rainone said, “It’s the 2016 list that you’re approving at the Meeting tonight.”

Councilman Fernando Irizarry mentioned the one acre on High Street that a storage company will not be using that can be used by a towing company to store cars.

Business Administrator Adam Cruz said, “We can draft an ordinance to have the tow yards located here.”

At previous meetings there have been discussions where owners have complained that their cars were being towed to out of town garages. It had been a hardship for those owners to get their vehicles back when this is done, especially during the weekend.”
