Perth Amboy Resident to Receive ‘Best 50 Women in Business’ Award

Program Recognizes State’s Most Dynamic Women in Business

Press Release 2/22/17

Mary Makfinsky

PERTH AMBOY – Mary Makfinsky, Senior Vice-President, Regional Treasury Management at Wells Fargo & Co., has been named one of New Jersey’s 2017 “Best 50 Women in Business” by NJBIZ.

A thirty-year veteran of New Jersey’s banking industry, Makfinsky joined Wells Fargo’s Business Banking team in 2013, reporting to Lou Gallo.  She was recently promoted to the company’s Treasury Management Unit, with oversight spanning five states.

“Mary is a solid relationship builder and problem-solver.  She is widely respected throughout New Jersey’s banking circles and in our communities, and it’s wonderful to see her build those relationships across state lines,” said Gallo.  “I speak for many of my colleagues when I say that Wells Fargo is proud to call her one of our own.”

A resident of Perth Amboy, Makfinsky is a tireless champion for women, children and economic empowerment.  She is an active member of the board of directors at the Newark Regional Business Partnership, the Greater Newark Holiday Fund, and the Boys & Girls Club of Union County.  She is also a frequent volunteer and community organizer for causes supporting affordable housing and professional development.

“My advice to women is always the same – sit in the front of the room, whether you’re at school or in a meeting,” said Makfinsky.  “It’s the best way to get noticed.  Raise your hand.  And never, ever apologize for asking a question.”

The Best 50 Women in Business awards program honors New Jersey’s most dynamic women in business that have been making headlines in their field.  NJBIZ and their independent panel of judges recognized Makfinsky for the outstanding contributions she has made to the banking industry and to communities throughout New Jersey.

Makfinsky and the other awardees will be honored during a special awards reception and ceremony on March 20 at the Palace at Somerset.
