Update on the Ferry; Remembering a Lifetime Resident; Art Gallery Exhibit

SOUTH AMBOY – Mayor Fred Henry was pleased to announce the Federal Highway Authority gave funds for recovering the artifacts by the Ferry Terminal. “We can now continue the work and we’re headed in the right direction.”

Henry continued, “The Arts District has been a positive addition to the town.”

Henry also sent condolences to the family of a well known community resident, Mike Kelly.

He was also was happy to report that the Rotary Club has just reopened.

Others who sent condolences to the Kelly family included Councilman Tom Reilly who remembered Kelly in his role as a well known coach in the City.

Business Administrator Camille Tooker also remembered when Kelly was a plumbing inspector for the City of South Amboy.

The Arts District was also mentioned during the Meeting. Councilman Reilly wanted to congratulate those involved in the Arts District, mentioning “It’s bringing in crowds. There is a display on site now by the former owner of the Blue Moon that will continue to be exhibited until April 15, 2017.”

Business Administrator Camille Tooker was excited about the same art exhibit with paintings by Wayne Turback, “They will also be having a 70th birthday party for Turback. I urge the press and others to come see the exhibit and other events that the Arts District will have coming up.”
