Carteret Hosting Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Baseball/Softball League Season Opening

CARTERET – Mayor Daniel J. Reiman and the Borough council will be hosting the annual Easter Egg Hunt and the Carteret Little League /Carteret Junior Softball League opening day this Saturday, April 8.  The Easter Egg Hunt and other family activities will take place from 11 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Civic Center Park.
The actual Easter Egg Hunt will occur on Knights of Columbus field which will allow children, ages four and under, to move from one side of the field to the other collecting as many eggs as possible, in a minute and half, before having to exit the field.  They will also have access to two bounce houses.   The Turf field will hold activities for children ages five through eight, who can play the games hot potato pass, large connect four or bean bag toss.  Peter Vezzosi field will host children ages nine through eleven, who can participate in a potato sack race, tug-a-war, dodge ball or a three-legged race.
Separate from the age specific-activities all the children will have the opportunity to visit a petting zoo, an airbrush artist, a forty foot slide, an obstacle course and have their pictures taken with The Easter Bunny.  In addition to the children’s activities there will be a DJ playing music and cupcake decorating.

The league’s parade will start at Carteret High School and march to Veterans Field at Civic Center Park.  The games will commence at 2 p.m. with the Gidget Division Champs, the Crushers & the Tigers, playing each other.   The Junior Division Champs, the Yankees & the Astros, will play each other at 2:30 p.m. at Knights of Columbus Field.
