B-Men Autism Awareness 5K Run/Walk to Take Place in Perth Amboy

Press Release 4/7/17

PERTH AMBOY – About 1 in 68 children have been identified with autism spectrum disorder. Autism is almost 5 times more common among boys (1 in 42), than among girls (1 in 189). April is Autism Awareness Month and on Saturday, April 22, 2017, B-men is having its 3rd Annual Autism Awareness 5k Run/Walk event in order to spread awareness. On-Site registration and sign-ups begin at 11am and the run/walk will kick off at noon. Registrations are ongoing. If you’d like to register for the event or make a donation, you can go to https://bmenautismwalk2017.eventbrite.com or register on-site. Registration cost is $10.

B-men students were challenged to think of a service activity that they could all work on that would not only bring their community together, but could be a learning experience and a healthy way to kick off the spring season. As the young men were discussing different ideas, two of the students informed the others that they have younger brothers that are autistic. And there began the mission and drive of bringing Autism Awareness to the Perth Amboy community.

“Since autism occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, I believe this is an amazing opportunity for B-Men participants and the community to come together at this event and stay informed.” states Edison Jaquez, CEO B-Men.

B-men would like to thank our primary sponsor: Cricket Wireless, 192 Smith Street, Perth Amboy, NJ; and also thank our community sponsors: L.A.B. Motor Oils, Liberty Bagel, and Jump Around, that are helping the students make this event possible.
