Fire Chief dies unexpectedly

PERTH AMBOY, NJ— The City of Perth Amboy announced last night the sudden passing of Fire Chief Abraham Pitre. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Additional information is not available at this time.

“We ask that you keep Abraham Pitre’s loved ones and co-workers in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn this devastating loss,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz.

Services will be held as follows:

Fire Department & Emergency Services Procession & Ceremony:

Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.
Start: Perth Amboy Fire Headquarters, 375 New Brunswick Ave.
End: Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy

Memorial Services will immediately begin upon arrival at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. -5:30 p.m. (For Fire & Emergency Services ONLY). All outside fire agencies are asked to arrive in Class A Uniform and report to Fire Headquarters for parking and commencement of procession by 3:00 P.M.  Please DO NOT bring fire apparatus.

General Public Visiting Ceremony:

Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy
